Hailed by L’ape Musicale and Connessi all’Opera as “vivacious” and “with an instrument of beautiful quality”, Greek-American mezzo-soprano Xeni Tziouvaras enjoys a career as international as her origins. This year, she made her Palm Springs Opera Guild debut as Hansel Hansel and Gretel, won 1st prize at the Performing Arts Scholarship Foundation competition. She has debuted the roles of Amneris Aida, Carmen Carmen, and Giacinta La Finta Semplice at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, and at the same house worked with renowned conductors like Zubin Mehta, Theodore Guschelbauer, Henrik Nánási, James Conlon, and Carlo Rizzi. She will sing two of her signature roles, Carmen and Cherubino, with COIF opera in Italy and Switzerland in the fall, and also debut in the Verdi Requiem with the Halifax Choral Society.
